This 9-day adventure not only offers the chance to witness the arrival of the new members of the massive wildebeest herds that are part of the Great Migration but also to see the opportunist predators waiting to prey on it – a definite must for those who love seeing dramatic scenes unfold!

Visit Tarangire National Park and see the famous herds of elephants, move onto beautiful Lake Manyara before reaching the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater and the pinnacle of the trip in the Southern Serengeti – the wildebeest calving. This tour takes in the best of Tanzania’s Northern Circuit as well as a magnificent display of new life.

Detailed Itinerary

DAY 1: Arrive at  Arusha

Upon your arrival, you will be collected from the airport and transferred to your lodge in the town of Arusha. If you arrive early enough, you will have an opportunity to explore the lodge grounds, take a dip in the swimming pool or partake in any of the offered additional activities available.

Day 2: Arusha – Tarangire NP                                                                                              

Our tour sets off after breakfast, with the first stop being the town of Arusha for some last minute purchases, before we head off on an exciting safari experience… We will travel towards the Tarangire National Park, where we stop for lunch and afterwards, our first game drive of the safari! Tarangire National Park is well known for its huge elephant population and baobab trees. It forms the centre of the annual migratory cycle that includes up to 3000 elephant, 25,000 wildebeest and 30,000 zebra.

Day 3: Tarangire NP                                                                                                  

After breakfast today we full day game drive at Tarangire National Park. Besides the herds of elephants you can also expect to see zebra, eland, mongoose, giraffe, bushbuck, hartebeest, dik dik, impala, warthog, and reedbuck. Many carnivores are abundant throughout the park such as lion, leopard, cheetah, hyena and jackal. Return to Tarangire River Camp to enjoy a sundowner while taking in the many colours of the setting sun over Tarangire landscape.

Day 4: Tarangire NP – Lake Manyara NP                                                                 

After breakfast today we are heading towards Lake Manyara National Park for full day game drive. The spectacular national park is located at the north-western corner of Lake Manyara, a hallow soda lake, which lies at the foot of the Great Rift Valley’s western escarpment. Lake Manyara covers two thirds of the park. Incredibly, the other third of the park homes a variety of animals, which are supported by open savannah grassland with rocky outcrops, marshes and acacia woodland. Manyara NP is not only known for its large flocks of flamingos, but also for the elusive tree climbing lions. Other animal found here are buffalo, zebra, hippo, leopard, elephants and giraffes.

 Day 5: Lake Manyara NP – Ngorongoro Crater

Our journey starts shortly after breakfast with a scenic drive up the Rift Valley escarpment to Ngorongoro Crater. On arrival we go through the registration process and descend to the floor of the world’s largest unbroken caldera for the most wonderful day of game viewing. We will have lunch at the designated picnic site at the side of the hippo pool and continue with a game drive as we drive up to the Ndutu area for overnight.

Day 6:  Ndutu Area                                                                                            

After breakfast, the tour departs to the Northern Party of Ngorongoro (Ndutu area) for game drive, famed for its annual animal’s great migration when some 6 million hooves pound the open plains. Breath-taking landscapes, vast plains, endless horizons and abundant wildlife await you.

Day 7:  Ndutu Area                                                                                      

Today we have early morning game drives and the late afternoon game drive at Ndutu area exploring The Lake Ndutu and surrounding areas. The great wildebeest migration, come here during month of December through the end of May. They calve in the plains in February, they gallop through the woodland and they swim across The Lake Ndutu. From June to November, the Ndutu plains are dry and the great Wildebeest Migration moves towards Moru Kopjes in Serengeti National Park.

Day 8:  Ndutu Area  

Today we have early morning game drives and the late afternoon game drive at Ndutu area exploring The Lake Ndutu and surrounding areas.  Day 9: Ngorongoro – Arusha                                                                                     

After breakfast, we explore the colourful town of Mto-wa-Mbu for some last-minute pictures and curio shopping. Afterwards, we head to Arusha where the tour end at airport connecting you with your international flight back home continue with your holiday to Zanzibar. We hope to welcome you again on one of our African adventures!
